“Glass and Ceramics”
In the last edition of the bimonthly “Glass and Ceramics”, a text was published devoted to the history and technology of Bolesławiec stoneware; “Specific decorations with underglaze paints and the special Bolesławiec regional mark”. In the article, authors describe a hundred-year history of stoneware and its production, and also how the complicated technology changed over time. It refers to glazes and paints which decide about the look of the finished dishes.
The authors mention the three most important ceramic centres in Bolesławiec: Julius Paul’s; Hugo Reinhold’s and Carl Wener’s; which were the precursors of the development and technological progress in the production of stoneware. The author also describes our Cooperative, which is the successor of Julius Paul’s ceramic factory.
The main pictures used in the article, taken by Paulina Stefańczyk, present items and decorations produced in the Artistic Handicraft Cooperative “Ceramika Artystyczna”.
